It is with deep sorrow that we announce the premature death of our esteemed colleague and past President Pr Michel Zerah.

Michel was an internationally renowned pediatric neurosurgeon working in Paris, France at Necker Enfants Malades Hospital.
Before serving as President of the ESPN from 2014 to 2016, he has been part of the Executive Board of the Society for many years, among the rest Chairing the Education Committee. He has been a true leader in this field and himself has contributed as Faculty in hundreds of teaching courses of both the ESPN and the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN) .
His outstanding lectures and presentations which demonstrated his deep knowledge of pediatric neurosurgery, his outstanding qualities of teacher and surgeon were highly appreciated all around the world. Similarly important was his dedication to clinical teaching who leaded him to start pediatric neurosurgery services in farest to Europe places around the world. For all of us he also represented an incomparable ability to start new friendships and a comradely spirit.

It is a great loss for the ESPN and the pediatric neurosurgical community. We will deeply miss him and we will not forget him
